If you have watched any news coverage over the past years, you have heard of the border crisis. Illegal immigrants coming into the United States by the masses and not much being done to regulate it. However, one thing you may not of heard (or at least not so much) is that immigrant children are going missing once they enter the United States. This is very concerning due to the fact they are at risk for trafficking. More than half a million unaccompanied minors have crossed the border. Once they are in the United States, they are placed in sponsored homes. A lot of times these children run away from these homes or they are “REPORTED” as run aways. It has been reported that more than 85,000 immigrant children are missing, but this information is not entirely correct. Regardless, even one child missing is too many. Local law enforcement do what they can to locate these children with little to no help from the Government. This is because the Government legally cannot release information about a child in the name of “protecting” the child. However, this hinders our law enforcement and makes it even more difficult to find these children. I’m sure there is something that can be done to safely change this law, and hopefully it can be done quickly.
I’m going to get real with you for a moment. This subject is near to my heart. My Son in Law came across the border at age 2 due to being in danger. He has been here since and now I have a beautiful granddaughter, who is part hispanic. I see her face when I think about all these children and teens who have been forgotten. What they must be feeling at this moment. What they must be going through at this moment. It breaks me in every way. We need to stop this. We need to question our leaders and hold them accountable for this. This is not ok. We need to take a stand for these children and not back down. They didn’t just disappear…
I challenge you to write your leaders and question them. Call them out when no answer is received. Most importantly I challenge you to pray for these children. Pray for their safety and for them to be found and reunited with family. Below is a few resources for more information on this topic.
